Affton School Board President Achieves Master Certification
Michael McNeil has achieved Master Certification in the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) certified board member program.
The Affton School District announced that Board of Education President Michael McNeil has achieved Master Certification in the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) certified board member program.
The program established by MSBA helps local school board members master the knowledge and skills they need to function as effective educational leaders in their communities.
“Mike has been a dedicated and valued member of the Affton Board of Education for many years,” superintendent Dr. Steve Brotherton said in a statement. “He works hard for the best interest of our students, staff and community. I look forward to continuing our efforts in the years to come.”
McNeil was elected to the Affton Board of Education in 2007, has since been re-elected twice and will begin serving his fourth term in April 2013.
All newly elected board members must complete a basic 16-hour program required under the Outstanding School Act of 1993. Those members achieving Master Certification choose to complete additional professional development requirements covering topics such as school finance, parliamentary procedures, board operations, and policy making.
