Hey, Bayless! Did You Lose a Chicken?

Neighbors in Bayless found a red chicken and are looking for the owner. Did you lose your chicken?

Looks like this chicken flew the coop!

Neighbors found a red chicken—which they described as either a Rhode Island Red or Red Sex Link—wandering in Bayless Tuesday near the corner of Hildesheim Ave. and Seibert Ave.

Jenna Brown posted the Craigslist ad, including a photo, on Affton-Shrewsbury Patch's Facebook page Wednesday, saying she is still looking for the owner.

Do your neighbors keep chickens? Can we help this little hen get home?

Thank you very much for the offer, but my husband and I keep chickens too! We think this girl came by to visit our rooster and if we can't find her owner we'll integrate her into our flock.

Poor thing! This reminds me of an incident a few years ago. I picked up my grand daughter at Bayless middle school and on our way home we noticed a beautiful red rooster at the very same intersection of Hildeshiem and Siebert. I pulled over and my grand daughter got out and chased it down and caught it and we took it to the Humane Society on Macklind and they sent it to Longmeadow Rescue ranch . We called back about a week later and they said it was doing very well and unless someone claims it it will live out the rest of its life being a happy Rooster living on the ranch. I had no idea so many people had chickens in the city! My grand daughter and I felt so bad for it cause we were afraid it would get hit by a car. We tried asking around if anyone knew who it could belong to so we could return it to the proper owner but no one knew anything. He was a real cute little guy and was so scared! My grand daughter still talks about "her chicken" LOL! She even took a pic of him with her phone in the car . She got him to calm down a bit by holding him and petting him and talking in a soothing voice. At the time I didn't know what to do or who to call . I hope they find this little hen's owner.
