Dear Affton-Shrewsbury Patch,
Sorry to bother you over the holiday, but I have a pressing town matter to discuss.
They're the family who covers their beautiful home in so many dazzling holiday lights that they had to take out a second electricity service so they could run the singing Santa and the washing machine at the same time.
Let's be serious. That's a lot of money.
While we're at it, have you heard some of the great stories coming out of the Affton School District?
Players from the St. Louis Rams came to learn a dance from students and perform it in front of the student body. The special education students at Affton High School prepared and shared a special Thanksgiving meal for faculty and staff. A school custodian saved a man's life after he suffered a heart attack on Election Day.
And the entire Affton School District family pulled together to make it through the death of one of their own, 12-year-old Christopher Marks, in a drowning accident.
So if you believe that this school district deserves some help in the form of a big check, I hope you'll vote for the Dolan family in Patch's Deck the House contest. I know I did.
You can vote here. You can vote tonight (Thursday) and again tomorrow (Friday) before 11 a.m. I know I'm voting!
And while I have you, I send a special thanks out to all the moms, dads, teachers, students and community members who voted for the Dolans this month. Whether you have children in the district or you just want to help, you've shown how a community can come together and make things happen.
Affton, you're the greatest.
See you next year,
