Local Teams Up and Down in Tourneys

Our weekly South County sports roundup touches both basketball and wrestling.

The Rockwood Summit boys basketball team hoped to ride the emotion and momentum of a last-second win in the semifinals of the Lindbergh Tournament to a tourney title.

It was not meant to be as the Falcons lost in the championship game to O'Fallon 58-52.

The tournament was still an encouraging one for the Falcons who defeated the host Flyers in the first round 57-37 and then had a memorable win over Springfield Hillcrest 44-43 in the semifinals.
