Man Indicted for Manslaughter in Fatal Concord Crash
Prosecutors said that Elvedin Halkic was drunk when he caused a fatal accident that killed Concord's Edna Sue Binder in March.
A man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Thursday for involuntary manslaughter in a fatal crash in Concord.
St. Louis County Police said in a report that Elvedin Halkic, 32, of the 3700 block of Swiss Road in Mehlville, was driving under the influence of alcohol March 11 when he ran a red light at South Lindbergh Blvd. and East Concord Road. Halkic’s car struck a car driven by Edna Sue Binder, 58, of the 4500 block of Haverlegih Place in Concord.
Binder later died from her injuries.
A St. Louis County Police officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol on Halkic and noticed he seemed intoxicated. Halkic admitted drinking alcohol before the accident, according to the police report.
