Mother Charged With Assaulting Daughter Over Text Messages

St. Louis County Police said Hedija Jahic punched her daughter several times, and hit and tried to choke her with an electrical cord.

AFFTON, MO -- A South County woman punched her daughter, and choked and struck her with an electrical cord at their home in Affton on March 27, according to a police statement.

Hedija Jahic, 33, became angry with her daughter after reviewing text messages from the girl’s boyfriend, according to a court document. She then punched the girl several times, wrapped the electrical cord around her neck and tried to choke her and struck her several times with the cord, according to a St. Louis County Police report.

The woman also called her names, police said.

Jahic, of the 4400 block of Mohegan Drive, was charged Monday with two counts of third-degree assault.

Jahic was released from St. Louis County jail March 31. Bail was set at $20,000.
