Now Open: Phase 5 Personal Training
You won't find any exercise machines at this studio, just free weights and smart workouts.
Walk into Phase 5 Personal Training at 8001 Mackenzie Road and you might be surprised to find a gym without any fancy machines. Garmenn Wong and Jaymes Askins created a studio where you use the best machine--your own body.
Their training is centered around how your body moves in its natural way. They combine body weight exercises, free weights, plyometrics and metabolic conditioning to get you in shape.
The gym opened on January 2.
Wong and Askins, both personal trainers, had been thinking of opening a new studio for a long time.
"We have trained at a local gym franchise for a few years and figured it was a good time to pursue our dream of owning our own personal training studio," Wong said.
"The thing that sets us apart from others is that we believe your own body is the best machine and that's why you won't find any exercise machines in our studio. We are a functional training gym," he said.
The follow a progression scale known as The 5 Phases to assure that every person develops the strongest and most efficient body possible all while getting a great workout.
"Through a combination of weight training, interval training, plyometrics, cardio and boxing our clients are assured a fun and different workout each time. In the next couple months we will also be offering Zumba classes taught by a certified instructor," Wong said.
They are offering 15 percent off training packages during their Grand Opening special until the end of February.
