Door locks on four cars were found damaged, and two tool boxes, tools, a socket set, a computer monitor and a flashlight were stolen overnight from three Shrewsbury blocks: the 7300 block of Weil Ave., the 5000 block of Danbury Ave., and the 7400 block of Murdoch Ave.
A resident reported finding a black trash bag with a checkbook and clothes in the 5000 block of Deville Ave., just a few hundred feet from one of the damaged cars.
Police said the clothes and checkbook in the bag were stolen from a vehicle parked in St. Louis City.

Has anyone noticed that there are never any break-ins reported in the apartment complexes that are behind Shop n Save, & Dierbergs, that are between Jacobs old Coal Rd. and River Des Peres? I think it's because there is nothing but trash living in those apartments. I think that this is where all the problems are coming from! Shrewbury is a nice place to live. What's really going on in those apartment complexes? Do we have Slum lords running them?

I agree Jan!! Just driving by and looking at those places you can see they are run down and from the looks of the people going in and out you can tell they are trash! I have lived in Affton right off river Des Peres for 30 years now and I have never seen such trash! I love Affton and Shrewsbury but since all these apartment complexes are now taking section 8 housing things are getting ugly. More and more landlords are now taking section 8 and that is part of the problem. I know not everyone getting help from section 8 are bad. People need help and thats understandable. But section 8 attracts a lot of scum and lowlifes who won't try to better their lives and choose to live off the government. The reason a lot of landlords accepts section 8 housing is because they are guaranteed by the government they will get their rent every month and on time. It's a real nightmare to try to evict someone who is either late or doesn't pay rent each month and that can go on in the courts for years!! I know Cedar Creek Loge and a few other apt complexes along River Des Peres accept section 8.Its like north city! Shootings and drug deals out in the open! Real scary!
