Restaurant Inspections: Seven Holy Founders, Kenrick's and More

Check out this roundup of reports on how restaurants fair on health inspections.

 

Patch examined inspection reports in Mehlville, Oakville and Affton from Mar. 20 until Mar. 27. Information has been compiled using publicly available data published to the website of the St. Louis County Health Department

Restaurants are rated on a scale of A to C, with A being the best. Inspectors also give a score indicating the percentage of compliance with inspection standards. 

Unless otherwise noted, all inspections were conducted on a routine basis.

River City Pub, 7906 Gravois Rd.

Grade: A (98)
Comments: Upright refrigeration units have torn and mold-like gaskets. Need to organize back room.

China Wok, 4269 Bayless Ave.
Inspection date: Mar. 20
Grade: A (99)
Comments: No date marking system in place for any potentially hazardous foods held beyond 24 hours. Found plastic grocery bags used as food wraps. Also found half-cut vinegar jugs used for small food containers.

Comments: Found a case of food on the floor of the rear walk-in coolers. The floor in the rear kitchen had water pooling around floor drain due to grout missing, and water squirting out from under tiles.

Comments: Thermometer not working. Floor tile worn bare in dry stockroom.

Comments: Boxes of food were set on floor in storeroom. Door on prep freezer was not closing tightly.

Comments: Signage to encourage hand washing was inadequate or missing at hand washing sinks. Found several spray bottles without labels. Found scoops in still water used. Found broken light in walk-in cooler.

Great Wall Restaurant, 3190 Telegraph Rd.

Comments: Found paper towels out of dispenser by ice machine in dish room. Five employees had been taken off scheduled waiting list for Hep A shot. Found four containers in different locations of the bakery with dirty utensils in still room temperature water. Found moldy poster in meat cutting room. Bakery walk-in cooler door still had shipping plastic layer on outside of door. Dishwashing machine soak sink has white plastic hose attached to it. Wall at the end of the salad bar end has blackened area.

Comments: Debris accumulation on walk-in floors especially under pallets needs to be cleaned. Employees coats/aprons hanging from the bun storage rack needs separation.

If the comments under the golden coral still entitled them to an A rating I feel that I cannot trust the rating system of the St. Louis County health inspectors.
