Visitation is Monday evening for a Sappington man who died following a heart attack he suffered while officiating a high school soccer game last week.

Jim Duniven collapsed on the field of a Lindbergh v. Kirkwood varsity game Thursday night at Lindbergh High School. He was a former Lindbergh schools parents and a high school sports official for more than 15 years. Read Duniven's full obituary on Legacy.com.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. on Monday at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton.

Players from both teams gathered around Duniven to pray while he was given medical attention on the field. Hear Lindbergh's varsity captain recount the experience.

Duniven was not just a respected game official in the region, but a parent to Lindbergh graduates Caitlin and Kevin, according to an announcement on the Lindbergh School District website. He is also survived by his wife, Sandra, according to the post.

Lindbergh school district spokeswoman Beth Johnston said school counselors and staff were prepared Friday to help students assist students.

"An email was sent out to all the teachers at the high school to make them aware of the situation, and help them be sensitive to soccer players who are in class today and make sure they have everything they need," Johnston said.
