South County Man Charged With Striking, Injuring 5-Year-Old

Police said he hit the boy for not getting ready for school.

 

A South County man faces criminal charges for hitting and injuring a child who was 5 years old at the time.

Travis Henson, 24, of the 7800 block of Clevedon Street in unincorporated South County, was charged with child abuse, a class C felony. Henson was formally charged Aug. 1 and was arrested Aug. 16.

St. Louis County prosecutors said Henson “inflicted cruel and unusual punishment” on the child between April 24 and April 26 by hitting and injuring the child.

St. Louis County Police said Henson hit the boy for not getting ready for school.

Bond was set at $25,000, cash only.
