South County Police Race Cars for Charity Benefit

St. Louis County Police Captain Mike Dierkes and Officer Dan Schroeder will be racing at the benefit for the BackStoppers.

Usually, cops and speeding just don't mix.

But this weekend, two St. Louis County Police officers will be racing around Pevely, MO, for a charity event benefitting BackStoppers, which helps families of fallen first responders.

Captain Mike Dierkes, in car 34, and Officer Dan Schroeder, in car 43, will be racing with law enforcement agents from around Missouri. Dierkes leads the police's Affton precinct, and Schroeder was Oakville's 2011 Officer of the Year.

(And speaking of car 43, check out the Patch logo on the back right side in the photos!)

The race starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway in Pevely. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Tickets cost $12 for grandstand seats and $25 for pit passes. Kids 12 and younger get in free. First responders with identification also get free admission.
