"I love you. Hang on."
That's what 24-year-old mother of three Heather Marshall told her children as her car spun out of control on Watson Saturday and flipped into the icy River Des Peres, according to Patch news partner Fox2Now.
“They were screaming. The only thing I can remember is hearing my kids screaming. It's the worst sound I've ever heard in my life,” Marshall told Fox2Now.
Marshall, of Affton, says her 5-year-old daughter is still afraid of the river. She and her two siblings—a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old—were in the car when it spun out on "black ice," flipped and landed on its side in the river.
Marshall stood on the submerged passenger's side door to text and call for help. Two police officers and a firefighter rescued the family by pulling them from the windows.

Guard rails are not the answer. DRIVING SAFELY is!!! I have lived around River des Peres all my life and have only heard of 2 or 3 cars ever going in. Typical of society, blame someone or something else!!! Take responsibility for your actions!!!
