Crestwood was voted the best place in Missouri to raise children by a nationally ranked magazine. How did it get left off this site, and why?

How did Crestwood get left off this "site"? Be aware that this is not a Patch created list. It is list from Coldwell Banker Real Estate. I suspec that different sources use different criteria for evaluating what constitutes a "top place to live".

Please take the time to compare the stats for Affton and the stats for Clayton in these survey results. You will note that 73.8% of homes in Affton are owned while only 51.5% of residences in Clayton are owned. The median age of homes in Clayton is 56% while the median age of residences in Affton is 42 years. The pricing of homes in Clayton has typically and historically been high end. The pricing of homes in Affton are more modest to reflect the type and style of housing located here. If you go onto the source firm's website, you will note that, under the category titled "Attributes", Affton also compares quite favorably with Clayton. Now, ask yourself the question, "What would be the motivation of a real estate firm to conduct and publish such a survey? The answer is pretty simple. Real estate agents are typically paid on a commission basis. Commissions on "higher end properties" are much more lucrative. Since the country is still in an economic downturn, this real estate company, just like other commission-based businesses
find it advantageous to generate surveys to entice clients. This survey, like so many others, deserves to be viewed by the casual reader as suspect both in terms of the motivation and methodology of the creator. Utilizing the correct methodology and less questionable motivation would clearly result in Affton as being in "The Top 20 Places to Live In MO.!" - Larry Stone, Chairman - Affton Community Involvement Association

As Affton (or Oakville or Mehlville or...) isn't even a city, I'm guessing it wasn't on their radar.

Ya, the fact that this comes from real estate people means a lot. I think they just listed places where lots of folks are buying homes. In Affton, there isn't a lot of turnover. People have been living in the same homes for many many years! Which is pretty cool, when you think about it.
