After days of turning away curious onlookers craving chicken sandwiches and chocolate Frosties, the Wendy's fast food restaurant on Lindbergh Blvd. is open.

"People have been very excited about Wendy's opening in South County," said Pam Randolph, director of operations for the restaurant. "We've had a lot of customers tell us they are very excited."

As a special tribute to their new community, Wendy's donated $500 to Feed My People, the largest St. Louis charity, which helps families in need.

Randolph said she's seen more enthusiastic customers waiting for this Wendy's opening than at either of the two St. Lousis-area openings she's overseen in the last three months. Sandie Travis, the restaurant' district manager, said she had to turn away 150 people.

The restaurant, located at 6925 S. Lindbergh Blvd., features test products that are only offered at a few Wendy's nationwide, including Red Head Roasters coffee line, and baked goods that are baked fresh in restaurant daily. There is a fireplace, flat-panel TV, free Wi-Fi and a machine with over 100 drink choices.

This is great. I loved WENDY'S since I was a kid and frequented the one on Lemay Ferry near the old Venture store. Also "Feed My People" is a wonderful charity to donate to. They Are LOCAL and nearly 100% of the money donated goes back to the community. Large charities like United Way are a bunch of crooks.
