New businesses in Affton

For the latest happenings in Affton, see the blog below, but in the meantime, if you are looking for an alternative to the Olympics, tune to Channel 9 from 9-10 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 13 for a live show called “Stay Tuned.” The focus will be on neighborhoods working on revitalization and the unique challenges of being in an unincorporated area. Larry Stone, President of Affton Community Involvement Association and I (Joan Edleson, Executive Director of the Affton Chamber of Commerce)  have been invited to participate in a roundtable on that topic. We hope to represent Affton in a positive way.

Affton welcomes some new businesses to the 63123 zip code. Recently Courtesy Diner opened at Laclede Station Road and Heege & Watson. The Diner is actually in Marlborough, but we look at any new businesses between Interstate 55 and Watson Road, South Lindbergh and the City limits as benefitting Affton. They all attract more people to the Affton area.

Sharpshooter Indoor Shooting Range and the Sharpshooter Pit & Grill opened in the 8100 block of Gravois. The owner also owns South Side Jewelry and Pawn, so he has a huge investment in that section of Gravois Rd.

Late last year, Tommy G’s Restaurant opened in the old location of Café Manhattan on Tesson Ferry and Lin Ferry—Stop by and welcome them to the area.

Club Fitness will be opening their largest center soon in Grasso Plaza in the location of the old Save-A-Lot plus the additional space between the old grocer and the Post Office.  They will be open round the clock and hope to open by May 1—the delays have been due to permits, but that will be corrected in the next several days. The water problem at the County Health Department delayed all permits in the County. You can go to the Club Fitness web site and in the lower right corner, there is a link to the floor plan of the Affton location.

Mr. Wizard’s Frozen Custard and Yogurt, currently located on Big Bend will be opening another location, this time in Affton! They will start working on the new location at 8411 Gravois, previously the Wonder Bread location. They hope to open in April or May at the latest.

A lot is going on at the old Sappington Farmer’s Market (located in Marlborough) as a portion of the space is being renovated for Dollar Tree—this should be great as we heard a number of complaints when Dollar Tree moved from Yorkshire Plaza.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
