ACIA Appeals to AOL President To Give Patch a Chance
Excerpt of letter to Tim Armstrong, CEO at AOL: We respectfully appeal to you not to shut down Patch sites across St. Louis County. Patch fosters timely cross-functional communication between local governments, chambers of commerce, school districts, social service entities and community involvement associations. Through your digital newsletter, we can engage in professional public discourse about critical issues of concern to our communities. Home for our members is in Affton, MO having a population of some 20,000 persons. Our mission, which focuses on resolving social ills and fostering positive economic development, has resulted in many success stories. Without the ability to use the Affton-Shrewsbury Patch as a means to engage in open public dialogue will we lose what has become an ideal and vital 21st century communications tool! The Patch employees with whom we work, have excelled in being knowledgeable about our issues, have quickly responded to news tips, and their work is greatly contributing to the betterment of the place we call home. Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to consider our very strong feelings about this extremely important matter. Respectfully,
Larry Stone - President
