Kirkwood Scout Project Benefits Gotsch Intermediate School in Affton

St. Louis, MO – Alex Molner, a 15-year-old member of Boy Scout Troop 352 out of Kirkwood, Missouri, has completed a service project for Gotsch Intermediate School in the Affton School District as part of his quest to become an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America.

To achieve this award, Alex had to plan and lead to completion a service project for a nonprofit organization in his community. The purpose of this service project was to showcase his abilities as a leader and also benefit the chosen organization.

As leader of this project, this Kirkwood High School freshman designed six rolling bookcases to be used by the teachers at Gotsch Intermediate School. With a work crew of 11 adults and 9 Scouts, the bookcases were constructed and painted.

Each rolling bookcase, built to last for many years, contains 12 individual slots to house book bins that the classroom teachers use to instruct their students during reading class. These bookcases will be housed in a central location so that teachers will have easy access to all of the book bins.

Through much planning, dedication, and hours of labor, Molner and his assembled team completed the project portion of his Eagle Scout requirements and will soon celebrate this achievement with family and friends at a Court of Honor Ceremony.
