Affton Mourns Loss of Christopher Marks

The search is over, and now the grief—and healing—begin.

And now, the healing starts.

That’s what nurse Kathy Beezley told me this morning as we talked—with great sadness—about where we go from here.

Christopher Marks was found dead last night after more than 40 hours of calculated search efforts by police and desperate prayers and hopes from us, the Affton community.

As one of Affton’s newest faces, I send my heartfelt prayers and thoughts to Chris’ family, his teachers, his friends, his neighbors and all the others who were touched by his life.

Today, I want to make Affton Patch a place for us to “gather” (in the online sense,) share stories and memories, plan remembrance ceremonies and support each other. I welcome the thoughts or questions you might have to share, either with me or with your community.
