Facebook Page for Wandering Woman: Thousands Track Her Travels

She's known as 'South County Cindy', and a Facebook fan page adds about a thousand 'likes' a day.

An apparently homeless South County woman has lots of folks looking after her. Thanks to Facebook, thousands know her as South County Cindy.

The South County Cindy Facebook page, started on May 23, had more than 12,000 'likes' Thursday afternoon, and lately has been adding them faster than you can refresh.

The page is full reports of the 40-50ish blonde, recently sighted in Kirkwood, Shrewsbury, Webster Groves, Frontenac and the Coldstone in Ronnies Plaza.

Many offer tidbits of information on her or speculate on her past, such as her family has millions but won’t share it with her, her family is NOT wealthy, she was a nurse, she was NOT a nurse, she’s divorced, she’s schizophrenic, she’s polite, she picks up trash.

Some say she has been on the streets for 15 years, and others say she’s out only in the summer.

Cindy’s ‘fans’ take candid photos of her as she travels about, post them on the site, and comment on her clothing and luggage.

One South County resident told Patch the site is bullying. Some comment on the site that she is mentally ill, and should be pitied. Others are not so kind.

Update: The South County Cindy Facebook page administrator has said he's shutting it down soon.

"Growing up in South County, I always seen Cindy as a public figure and found it interesting she would pop up all over town in the most unexpected places. I don't want to be known as "that guy" who created a hateful facebook page because that's not who I am."

And another update, now he says the page is staying.

Are you one of the thousands who ‘like’ this page? Do you think the page is unkind to 'Cindy' or does it serve a purpose?
