Lindbergh Teen Gets ‘Remodeled’ on the CW Network

Aspiring model Madeline Giunta's episode airs Wednesday night.

We’ve heard stories of the newest face being discovered by a chance encounter on the street or in line at the store, but when Madeline Giunta was met with an uncomfortable stare on a New York City subway, she had no idea that she was about to dispel the myth.

Giunta, her mom and her aunt were visiting family in New York three years ago when Giunta was just 13.

“This lady kept looking at me and it kind of freaked me out since I’m not from New York,” Giunta said. “When the subway stopped, she asked me how tall I was and how old I was. She said she worked for Vera Wang and asked if I’d consider modeling.”

In three year’s time, Giunta, who is 5’8”, has signed with St. Louis modeling agency Centro Models and has walked in the St. Louis and St. Charles fashion week shows and the Grovefest fashion show. Now in the development phase of her career, Giunta is focused on perfecting her runway walk and being the next “it” girl.

Centro was recently chosen for the show “Remodeled” on the CW network, and Giunta, who is a sophomore at , is one of the new faces being introduced on the show, which airs at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15. “Remodeled” follows internationally known modeling agent Paul Fisher as he travels the United States overhauling a web of modeling agencies called “The Network” and introducing a class of new faces to the modeling world. In this case he came to St. Louis to film Giunta.

Giunta cites Coco Chanel and Tyra Banks and two of her idols and said that she herself wants to be a role model and prove to girls that there are some people who make bad choices, but she’s not one of them.

“We are trying to change the industry almost,” she said. “Whenever you think of models you think of the stereotype of being anorexic or some of them do drugs or get on the wrong side of the business. I want to prove to them that it’s not all true.”

Giunta is now signed with Fisher’s “Network” through Centro/TalentPlus, Inc. and hopes that she can book her first big job where she can travel outside of St. Louis. If that doesn’t work out she would like to be a scout or an agent. Giunta understands, however, how important it is to stay grounded and well rounded. At first she didn’t know if she was tall enough to make the runway model standard, so after she finishes high school she would like to take online college classes to obtain a business degree. After all, once you are in your mid-20s in the modeling world, you are “too old.”

“It’s very hard work—it’s really hard but at the same time it’s worth it. I think for someone who is looking into modeling should give it a shot,” she said. “Try and audition and see what you can do. It doesn’t have to be huge if it’s your passion. Keep your head high and looking on the bright side of things.”
