Affton Community Days Sets Schedule, Entertainment for Annual Festival

Parade and continuous entertainment to be offered at the Sept. 15 festival.

St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger (6th District) will officially kick off the annual Affton Community Days Festival by singing the National Anthem at about noon Sept. 15 on the festival grounds located on the parking lot of , 4980 Heege Rd.

The church parking lot also will be the ending point of the Affton Community Days Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. at , travels south on Mackenzie Road to Gravois Road, then east to Heege Road and St. George Catholic Church. The 1.3-mile parade will feature the high school bands from the Affton and Bayless school districts, as well as various entries from Affton area businesses, schools, churches and other organizations. The theme of the parade is "Affton Goes On Vacation."

The festival also has a name change this year. The Affton Chamber of Commerce changed the name to Affton Community Days in order to reflect all of the neighborhoods and the four school districts (Affton, Bayless, Lindbergh and Mehlville) in the 63123 ZIP code

Festival organizers point out that parade entries are free. The cost for booth space at the festival depends on the type of booth and whether an organization is a member of the Affton Chamber. Entry forms can be located on the Affton Chamber's website at www.afftonchamber.com.

The booths on the festival grounds will begin operation at 11 a.m. The festival ends at 9 p.m.

Entertainment at the festival site will be continuous from noon to 9 p.m. and includes:

  • Noon -- Juggling Jeff, a high energy, fast-paced, comedic juggling show.
  • 1 p.m. -- My Side of the Story, a rock band comprised of six musicians ranging in age from 10 to 13.
  • 1:30 p.m. -- Memories of Elvis with Steve Davis.
  • 2:30 p.m. -- Magician Joe Fingerhut with Abra-Kid-Abra.
  • 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. -- Adam’s Apple (a local band to perform near the beer garden).
  • 5-9 p.m -- SMASH Band.
