Boodle's BBQ to Open at Former Wendy's Location

The southern style barbecue restaurant will open end of September or early October.

If you have been wondering what has been happening at the former Wendy's building on Gravois, and you like meat, then you are in luck.

The building will reopen soon as Boodle's BBQ, a southern style barbecue restaurant from Jonathan Seitz, the founder of Bandana's Bar-B-Q, which has locations around St. Louis.

Seitz sold Bandana’s five years ago, and now, along with partner Christ Makos, hopes to open Boodle’s around the end of September or early October.

Seitz said that the 55-seat restaurant will have a “lodge-y” feel, with wood walls and potato sacks hanging as light fixtures. The restaurant plans to focus on being family friendly and offering quick service a cut above fast food.

What should you try when it opens? Seitz recommends the ribs, or anything pork. Boodle’s will also offer traditional sides, all of which are homemade.

Boodle's will open at 10024 Gravois Rd., across from Grasso Plaza.

I have noticed that union workers are picketing this establishment. Is anyone aware of the reason they are picketing?
Andrew Dana Hudson September 21, 2011 at 06:52 pm
From what I understand, the picketers take exception to Boodle's using non-union carpenters for its renovation work.

The union postal workers across the street noticed. Not a smart move on Boodles part.

As far as I am concerned, this is a free country. If the postal workers across the street choose to me unionized, that's their choice. Jonathan Seitz, owner of Boodles, does not have job security, in fact, he is going out on a limb to open a small business like most Americans have to do. What makes everyone think that he is indebted to use only Union workers? Americans are CRAZY with this Union stuff. Buck up, get a job, do your job well, and thou shall earn job security!

Thank you Andrew for the information. We are all americans and all titled to our opinions. My husband is a union carpenter which is why I noticed the picketing. I however am non union. Thank goodness we are able to share our opinions freely!

Potato-sack light fixtures? Love 'em.

Boodles used both union and non union Labor on their project. The carpenters for some reason feel they are entitled to swing every hammer in St. Louis

Yes, I wound up visiting Saturday for dinner and Sunday for lunch. It's quite good and I'm sure I'll make more trips there...

Visited there for dinner on Monday. Ribs & sides (picnic potatoes, cole slaw, & fried biscuits) were great. Looking forward to trying some lunch items.

We went there Monday night. The food was great and they have done a great job transforming the place!

So they were simply picketing because they didn't use all union workers? Wow, I drove by the Wal-Mart construction site in Bridgeton and didn't not see any picketers there. I would think that Wal-Mart would be a better place to picket then some small new restaurant.
