Health Experts Helping South County Stick to New Year's Resolutions

The first-ever Health Jump Start 2013 brings health and fitness experts from the St. Louis area to help neighbors with their diet and fitness for the new year.

Did you make a New Year's resolution?

Almost 50 percent of Americans make a resolution to greet the new year, and many of those resolutions are about losing weight, staying fit and getting healthy.

That's why Dr. Danielle Spath, a chiropractor who recently opened her own practice in Affton, is bringing health and fitness experts together for a resource fair to help residents get healthy in 2013.

"Most people want to improve their health, but after just coming through the holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's, a lot of people feel they are completely off track," Spath said. "New Year's resolutions have become somewhat cliche...but when the end of the year rolls around, sometimes—probably many times—they just don't have the right resources and they don't know what's availible to help them."

Spath said her clients health-related resolutions vary widley. Some need to lose weight, some want more fruits and veggies in ther diet, and others are looking to run their first 5K.

"If you have a goal, we can help you meet that goal," Spath said.
