Johnny Gitto’s Gets a Remake by Son David

David Gitto, the grandson of Charlie Gitto, wants his new place to be a neighborhood grill.

Johnny Gitto’s is going for a remake after 17 years at its 6997 Chippewa Street location, just east of Shrewsbury.

It’s been known as a late-night spot for karaoke, now Johnny’s son, David Gitto, is in the process of turning it into a family spot to watch the game, and have American food with an emphasis on Italian.

“It’s time for a change,” Gitto said. “It’s all about the neighborhood.”
