NBA Star, Forbes List Maker Buy 30 St. Louis Wendy's Locations

Chauncey Billups and Junior Bridgeman are the new owners of the St. Louis area Wendy's restaurants.

Area Wendy's restaurants are changing hands under terms of a deal completed on Monday.

Former NBA player Junior Bridgeman and current Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups now own 30 St. Louis area Wendy's restaurants, according to a Wendy's statement.

Wendy's headquarters said Bridgeman was already the second largest franchisee in the company before the deal, and will now have at least partial ownership in 196 of the restaurants.

The deal is part of the company’s rebranding which includes having geographically concentrated ownership. The company in total plans to sell off 425 Company-operated restaurants and turn them into franchise locations.

This is Billups, who recently signed a two-year, $5 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, first go-round in restaurant ownership. But Bridgeman is seasoned in the field. In fact, Forbes named him one of the Wealthiest Black Americans in 2009, at an estimated $200 million.
