Smokehouse, Shooting Range to Open in Affton in August

A business is expanding on Gravois Road.

A business that’s been on the east end of Gravois Road in Affton for 21 years will soon offer more in a new building next door.

Keith Brooks owns Southside Jewelry and Loan, and is set to open a shooting range and a smokehouse restaurant in August.

“We’re just hoping this brings a vibrancy to our end of Gravois, so people that don’t regularly come to our community will come to our community to use our range, but they’ll see that we have many other flourishing businesses where they might want to do business,” he said.

Brooks is opening STL Sharpshooters Indoor Range and Sharpshooters Pit and Grill at 8135 Gravois Road.

Brooks said the shooting range will be one of the largest in St. Louis, with 20 4-foot-wide shooting lanes. Instruction and certification will be offered. The director of training is a 27-year veteran of the FBI.

Sharpshooters Pit and Grill will offer a menu similar to Pappy’s Smokehouse, he said. It will be a full-service 52-seat restaurant, with an additional 48 seats on a patio. The hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The smokehouse chef is a master sergeant from the United States Army who cooked for ranking generals in Washington, D.C., Brooks said.
