Fish, Clowns and Sculpture Events This Weekend

From your weekly dose of charitable trivia, to an evening under the big top, there's plenty to get out for this weekend

Friday brings fried fish, Saturday bears charitable trivia and Sunday is all about beads. In between, slip in a trip to the circus in St. Charles or Laumeier Sculpture Park in Sunset Hills. Know about something we don't? Share it in the comments.


  • When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at Seven Holy Founders, 6820 Aliceton Ave
    Why Go: Raise money for local children's charities, while matching up your trivia prowess with other members of the community.
    Pricing: $20 per person, $150 for a table of eight

  • When/Where: 4:30 - 7 p.m. Friday, March 18 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 8300 Morganford Rd
    Why Go: 'Tis the season for fried fish, and if you're Catholic you shouldn't be eating meat today anyway. Even if you're not religious, there's nothing like home-fried cod on a cool spring evening. has one as well.
    Pricing: $8 for a dinner, $4 for half portions, $3 for sandwiches

  • When/Where: Thursday - Sunday, March 17 - 20 at St. Charles County Family Arena, 2002 Arena Parkway, St. Charles (see event listing for showtimes)
    Why Go: Yes, it's a bit of a drive…but it's the CIRCUS. Laugh at the clowns, ride the elephants, marvel at the trapeze artists and "Motorcycle of Death," and eat cotton candy and popcorn until your stomach begs for mercy.
    Pricing: General Admission: $12; Reserved: $17; VIP: $27; Executive VIP: $35

  • When/Where: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon - 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Laumeier Sculpture Park, 12580 Rott Rd, Sunset Hills
    Why Go: Stockholder incorporates everyday objects, architecture and painting into beautiful and playful sculptures. The exhibit opened in February and runs until May.

  • Beading Day at Michaels
    When/Where: 1 - 5 p.m. Sunday, March 20 at Michaels, 5796 S Lindbergh Blvd.
    Why Go: Stick around for four consecutive beading workshops, and you'll walk away with a pendant necklace, pearl cluster earrings, a beaded bracelet, a twist tie flower ring, and plenty of creative jewelry ideas.
