Flea Market, Mardi Gras and Music Events This Weekend

From browsing tables at the flea market, to begging for beads at the Mardi Gras parade, there's plenty to keep you busy this weekend.

This weekend, we've got bargain shopping at a flea market, chili and trivia fundraisers and of course the Mardi Gras parade in Soulard. Take your pick, and let us know how it was. Have something better to do? Tell us about it in the comments.

  • When/Where: 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Affton High School, 8309 Mackenzie road, Affton
Why Go: It's like the ultimate garage sale. Plenty of treasures to be found, at "get this out of my house" prices. Free parking and food available for purchase.
Pricing: Free admission, bring cash for purchases

  • When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at Busch Stadium, 700 Clark St., Soulard
Why Go: This parade is the main Mardi Gras attraction in St. Louis (and, you could argue, the Midwest), and you live too close to pass it up. After the parade, stick around to enjoy all the food, drink, music and culture that Soulard has to offer.
    Pricing: Free
  • at Lindbergh High School
When/Where: 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Lindbergh High School, 5000 S Lindbergh Blvd, Sappington
Why Go: You get all the chili, hot dogs, nachos and dessert that you can eat, and you'll be helping the school's Interact club raise money for a service trip to Guatemala.
Pricing: $5 in advance, $6 at the door

  • When/Where: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Crestwood Community Center, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane, Crestwood
Why Go: Proceeds help the Alumni Association fund scholarships for deserving Lindbergh graduates. Plenty of prizes, too, so there's a good chance it will turn out to be a win-win.
Pricing: $15 in advance, $18 at the door

  • When/Where: 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church, 5275 S Lindbergh Blvd
Why Go: Jei Mitchell is a local musician, and this is her first  CD release. Support her by coming out to watch her perform excerpts from the album, then stick around for some food and conversation.
Pricing: Event is free, CD is $10
