This week, pool workers put the last touches of maintenance on to get the aquatic center ready for the season opening. The competition pool was scheduled to be painted this year, but that effort is being put off due to city budget cuts. Parks and Recreation Director Marc Bernstein said that the pool would definitely need to be painted next year.

With the heavy rain this week, Bernstein said he expects the water to be a bit chilly, but he said he isn’t worried about that spoiling the big opening.

“The kids will be in the water either way,” he said.
