Traffic Ahead: Weekend Work Depends on Cardinals Success

This week's nominees have made the grade for disrupting the normal driving experience through novel lane usage and acts of crime.

Our first nod goes to a man who ended up in the Shrewsbury police blotter for decided to avoid the hassle of driving on actual roads and used the sidewalk instead.

"Police arrested a south St. Louis City man for driving his motorcycle on a sidewalk, possession of marijuana and for having outstanding warrants from another local police agency at 12 p.m. in the 7200 block of Lansdowne. Ave."

The second recognition could belongs to the individual (or individauls) who deprived an Affton resident of his ride. Affton County Police reported that a red red 2002 Honda CBR was stolen in the 6800 block of Weber Road.

Lane Closures announced for I-64

In downtown St. Louis, all lanes on eastbound I-64 from Jefferson to 6th Street will close this weekend. This area and two eastbound lanes on the Poplar Street Bridge will close starting at 8 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for bridge repairs. All weekend work is pending on whether the St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series.

I-64 Exit Ramp at Chesnut/20th Street Shut Down for Three Weeks

Both lanes on the eastbound I-64 Chestnut/20th Street exit ramp will close for three weeks starting Monday from 9:30 a.m., to 4:30 p.m., while crews perform maintenance repairs. During non-peak travel times, there will be one lane open on the Chestnut exit ramp.

Eastbound I-70 Lane Closed

The right lane on eastbound I-70 is now closed from St. Louis to Broadway for retaining wall construction as part of the new Mississippi River Bridge.

I-270 Ramp to Route 370 Remains Closed

In North St. Louis County, one lane on the westbound I-270 ramp to westbound Route 370 will remain closed this week for emergency pavement repairs, weather permitting. Motorists can still use the other lane on each ramp, but expect traffic delays.

I-64 Exit Ramp Closed in West St. Louis County

In West St. Louis County, the westbound I-64 exit ramp to Long Road will close Thursday night from 8 p.m., Thursday until 5 a.m., Friday for bridge repairs.

In Case You Forgot…

  • The right lane on eastbound I-70 is closed from St. Louis to Broadway until Summer 2012.
  • The Jamieson bridge over I-44 is closed.-64, St. Louis City, eastbound 11th Street exit ramp closed weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The I-70 express lanes are closed until mid-December.
  • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to 10th Street closed permanently Oct. 10.
  • The Grand Boulevard bridge over I-64 to Chouteau is closed until mid 2012.
  • Ladue Road is closed east of Route 141.
  • There is a narrowed exit lane from northbound Earth City Expressway to westbound Route 370.
  • Route AB is closed at Route 141 until mid-November.
  • The northbound right lane and shoulder of I-255 in St. Louis County are closed until late December 2011.
