ACFP Beer Dinner

AFFTON FOOD PANTRY HOSTS FIVE-COURSE BEER DINNER

The Affton Christian Food Pantry is pleased to announce its first Beer Dinner fundraiser, at Sage restaurant in Soulard, on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 6:30pm.  The Beer Dinner is a five-course, gourmet meal, specifically designed by the Head Chef at Sage to complement and contrast with the flavors and preparations of five distinct beers.  Each course will be accompanied by an explanation from the Head Chef, and a description of the brewing processes and beer styles from a Beer Expert.

The courses include calamari in aioli sauce, beer-cheese soup, grilled salmon over baby spinach, marinated pork tenderloin, and chocolate truffles in a raspberry sauce.  In addition to the meal and beer tastings, the evening will also include several oral auction packages.  Among the items up for bid are a Rams football signed by James Laurentiatis, a VIP Brewery Tour and Dinner package, and Blues Ticket packages.

The Beer Dinner is a fundraiser for the Affton-based food pantry, a nonprofit agency committed to providing food for low-income families in and near the 63123 zip code.  The Affton Christian Food Pantry, in existence since 2004, is operated by twelve Affton-area churches, and serves approximately 200 families every month.  Seeing the need for food assistance grow by more than 20% over the past year, the Affton Christian Food Pantry is hoping this unique fundraising event will increase awareness about its mission, as well as help the agency continue to meet the need for hunger assistance in the Affton area.
