Missouri Veterans History Project Preserves Honored Past

The Missouri Veterans History Project (MVHP) interviews and records the stories of Missouri veterans.

The Missouri Veterans History Project (MVHP) interviews and records the stories of Missouri veterans. The vision for this not-for-profit corporation originated with State Representative Jill Schupp (D-Creve Couer), after 2010 budget cuts eliminated the Missouri Veterans Stories, a state-funded program.

Thankfully, Missouri veterans from all eras can continue to tell their first-hand stories and have them preserved for future generations. These rich histories are gathered in video-graphed interviews that are conducted by Midwest Litigation Services free of charge. The interviews are conversational in nature and must be 30 minutes or longer. Veterans may be nominated to be interviewed, with their prior approval.

The goals of MVHP are three-fold: training volunteers to interview and record the stories of Missouri veterans, organizing community groups to interview as many veterans as possible and making the recordings available to The State Historical Society of Missouri, the Library of Congress and the veteran.
