Thank You, Affton!

This past Saturday, July 27, the Affton and South City communities came out full-force to show its support for the Affton Christian Food Pantry, and for families in need in our area.

As a part of Operation Food Search's "Saturday Jubilee," the ACFP staffed two Schnucks locations: the Affton Schnucks and the Schnucks at Hampton and Gravois.  All day, volunteers stood outside the stores, greeting customers and asking them to purchase an item or two in the store to donate to the ACFP.

The response from our community was humbling and inspiring!  In eight hours, thousands of customers and staff at both stores donated enough food to fill 116 boxes.  But, the generosity didn't stop there.  Caring people emptied their wallets and change purses, and donated more than $850 to help the ACFP buy food for families in need.

Sometimes "thank you" is too small for all that you want to say.  Those words don't begin to express the deep gratitude that everyone at the ACFP has for the show of support from our community.

The Affton Christian Food Pantry is an ecumenical nonprofit, run by 13 area churches.  Its mission is to serve as a reliable source of food for families in need.  Located in the St. George Parish Center at 4960 Heege Rd in Affton, the ACFP greets client families three days per week, providing them with a grocery cart filled with nonperishable items, fresh produce, meat, eggs, and paper products.

If you, or someone you know, needs food assistance, please call (314) 580-3138.  To learn more about the Affton Christian Food Pantry, to make a donation, or volunteer with ACFP, please visit our website at: afftonchristianfoodpantry.com.
