Rogers Middle Farm to School Day a Great Success!!!

Perryville FFA members come to Rogers Middle School for "Farm to School Day" and show students the important work they do to keep us healthy.

The rain did not damper spirits as students and teachers at Rogers Middle School met not only the Perryville Future Farmers of America members but also their animals.  Yes, we had cows!!!  FFA members brought a dairy calf, heifer, pigs, chickens, bunnies, hunting dogs and sheep to show the kids. They also showed us how to make molasses from sorghum and talked to the kids about the farming equipment that is used for crops.  An FFA member who just recently graduated from SEMO explained what crops are grown at neighboring farms in Perryville.

This project was a combination effort between Donna Telle, who is a dairy farmer from Missouri and the Fuel Up to Play Team at Rogers Middle School.  "From Farm to School" is a play from Fuel Up to Play's playbook and is something that I have wanted to put in place for two years.

I want to help our students understand how hard these people work to help us stay healthy.   All in all, even with the morning rain, it was a successful "Farm Day" at RMS.
