I AM NOT A MONSTER!

I am no longer a young woman, but certainly not a monster!

Good Morning,

My teenager, I won't say which one,  believes I am a monster. I took away the phone and computer when her mouth said words I thought only sailors said in time of war. Yesterday, I was feeling very forgiving and decided I would let her call two of her friends. Well, she was just in the next room and told one of them in a very loud voice that I had become a monster. A Monster?  Me? Is she kidding? Did we not just get back from a lovely lunch at Steak n Shake?  Did I just spend a good 15 minutes talking to her about anything she wanted to talk about?  I ran to look in the mirror. Yes, I no longer have the face of a young woman. My 63 years have left my hair colored a shade that is not found in nature and thank you children for those bags under my eyes, but certainly not a monster! O.K., I am not a monster, actually I deserve to get credit for not running away. Yes, we all hear about kids who run away from home, but realistically, it's parents who really want to run away. I have stood steadfast and true to the honor of raising these two beautiful girls, but how could all my efforts turn into the disparaging description from this girl? As I often do, it time of stress, I called my eldest child, who is married and has such good sense, she can bring me back from over reacting. Just hearing her voice and assuring me that school starts this week calms my nerves and lowers my blood pressure. O.k., I will not run away, I will continue to stand tall and believe in my efforts and my girls. And on Wednesday, on a small street in Affton, you might see me at a bus stop doing the happy dance.
