Summer Starts

Memorial Day unofficially starts the swimming pool season and this year, it starts Summer for my kiddos. Yesterday, my kitchen was filled with five teenagers and popcorn everywhere. It was drizzling outside so they where in the house. Music filled each room, laughter and their own brand of giggling and screaming.

My heart was filled with joy hearing these 5 girls enjoying their time together. I was trying to read but that was futile. Instead I snuck some popcorn and played with my little dog, Rosie.  How blessed I am that the kids hang out here and not somewhere else. I get to hear little snippets of conversation about school, teachers and friends. I listen to their opinions about music, their tales of woe concerning learning to drive, the news at school and their plans for the future.

I cannot guess their future, but I know this. These are good kids enjoying their lives and they know the difference between right and wrong. They are not perfect but hopefully they will have enough to make good descisions and sound judgements. I am excited to have them home for the summer and look forward to all that I will learn.
