11 Cars Opened, Burgled Overnight in Shrewsbury

Unlocked cars were opened near St. Charles Place and Grove Avenue.

The said Wednesday in an email to residents that a number of overnight thefts were reported from parked automobiles in the vicinity of St. Charles Place and Grove Avenue.

According to the police chief Jeff Keller, approximately eleven vehicles were entered. In most instances nothing was removed from the vehicles. Loose change was taken from several of the cars. A wallet was taken from one automobile.

There were no signs of forced entry into any of the vehicles and most appeared to have been left unlocked.

The incidents occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Keller said patrol officers are providing frequent and extra patrols in the areas where the thefts occurred. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling the dispatch center at 645-3000 or 911 in case of emergency.
