Wilson and Matthew Wakeman, 26, of Affton, went to a home in the 400 block of Elmhurst in St. Charles to take back his daughter, police said.

The St. Charles family had been advised by the Missouri Division of Family Services to keep the child while an investigation was completed. The child’s mother, Jennifer Temm, 35, of Oakville, rode with Wilson and Wakeman and waited in the car as the two men kicked in a back door and entered the home.

Police reported that a juvenile in the home hit Wilson several times with a fireplace poker during the home invasion. Wilson, the juvenile and the young man’s mother all ended up struggling over the fireplace poker.

Wilson later was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he was admitted into intensive care.

Wakeman and Temm both previously pleaded guilty to felony charges of first-degree burglary. Wakeman was placed on probation while Temm was sentenced to 16 days in jail and given credit for time served.
