Affton Precinct Police Blotter: Criminals Targetting Vehicles

The following information was supplied by the Affton Precinct of the St. Louis County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Friday, August 12

Someone shattered a vehicle's window and stole a purse from it in the 8000 block of Creekview Trail in Affton.

In the 9700 block of Hale Drive in Affton, a woman’s ex-boyfriend was arrested for entering her residence and threatening her over a previous arrest.

Cash was stolen from a house burglary in the 4600 block of Fieldbrook Terace in Concord.

Saturday, August 13

Someone entered two unlocked vehicles on Nightingale Lane in Affton. A purse and medicate were stolen from one. Cash was stolen from the other.

A case of domestic assault was reported at on Perida Court and Merito Drive in Concord. A man pushed his wife to the ground, injuring her, because she refused to go home with him. The investigation is on-going.

A silver 1997 Ford Escort was reported stolen in the 9405 Brenda Avenue in Affton.

Monday, August 15

A block 1979 Chevrolet pickup truck was reported stolen in the 13100 block of Tesson Ferry Road in South County. 

Tuesday, August 16

Car stereo equipment and hockey equipment was stolen from a vehicle parked inside a garage in the 7000 block of Heege Road in Affton.

A power washer was stolen from a locked storage shed at Concord Plaza Shopping Center.

In the 5400 block of Southfield Center, a vehicle window was smashed and a car stereo was stolen.

Wednesday, August 17

At Outback Steakhouse. 5240 Lindbergh Blvd. in Sappington, a vehicle door was pried open and a purse was stolen. The credit card from the purse was then used at multiple locations.

Another vehicle window was pried open in the 9800 block of Tesson Creek Estates Drive. A purse with cash, credit cards, personal papers and checkbooks was stolen form within.

In the 10100 block of Morgan Ridge Drive in Affton, a wallet, a debit card, gift cards, GPS and cash were stolen from a parked vehicle. It is unknown whether the vehicle was locked.

In the 4700 block of Tiemann Avenue in Affton, cash, prescription mediation, silverware and a collectible dollhouse were reported stolen. The victim’s son had a homeless friend staying at the residence. The victim stated that the son’s friend stole the listed items and later admitted to theft on the phone. The friend is currently.

Message From police:

“I don't know how much or how often I can say this to our residents....  Do not leave valuables inside of a parked car, regardless of if they hidden or not. Criminals are specifically targeting vehicles with visible purses, GPS units, iPods, iPads, expensive car stereos, anything resembling a laptop case, as well as unlocked vehicles.”
