Arrest Made in December 2010 South County Shooting

The 19-year-old from St. Peters allegedly robbed a home at gunpoint.

The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney issued warrants Wednesday for the arrest of Brandon J. Varone, a 19-year-old from St. Peters, regarding a December 2010 shooting in the 4900 block of Mount Royal Road, just south of I-270 in South County.

Varone was charged with first degree assault, first degree robbery, first degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action, according to a press release issued by the St. Louis County Police Department. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

At 7:40 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010, county police officers from the Affton-Southwest Precinct received a call about a shooting at the 4900 block of Mount Royal Road. When police arrived, the victim of the shooting said he had interrupted a robbery in progress. His roommate, he said, was being robbed at gunpoint. The victim was then shot during the robbery, but survived his injuries.

Detectives from the Bureau of Crimes against persons responded to investigate the incident which ultimately led to the arrest of Brandon Varone.
