Update: Bank Robbery at Kenrick Plaza

Shrewsbury Police, along with the FBI, are seeking a man who held up the First Bank on Watson Road with a handgun.

A lone man with a handgun robbed the First Bank at 7435 Watson Rd. in Kenrick Plaza Friday morning at 10:06 a.m. According to Lt. Jeff Beaton at the Shrewsbury Police Department, the suspect displayed a handgun, demanded money from a teller and then quickly left, fleeing on foot to the southeast with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Shrewsbury Police described the robber as a black man in his 30s between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing a bulky, black-hooded winter coat, blue jeans and black shoes.

Shrewsbury Police are working with the FBI to track down the suspect. According to Lt. Brian Catlett at the Shrewsbury Police Department, the FBI is looking into the possibility that this suspect may be connected with other robberies in the area.

According to the law enforcement-run website www.bandittrackerstlouis.com, the robber may be responsible for five other bank robberies: Regions Bank at 4706 S. Kingshighway Blvd. on January 31 and again on March 4; Regions Bank at 3547 Hampton Ave. on February 22; Southern Commercial Bank at 6969 S. Lindbergh Blvd. on January 12; and First Bank at 2909 Telegraph Rd. on December 6.

If anyone has any information about the robbery, they are asked to contact the Shrewsbury Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 314-647-5656. Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to a felony arrest submitted to 866-371-TIPS.
