DWI Arrest Made on Murdoch Avenue

Shrewsbury Police responded to the following incidents this month, according to the weekly police blotter:

Thursday, Jan. 10

At 5 p.m., a pistol was reported stolen from a man's vehicle outside a warehouse in the 7200 block of Weil Avenue in Shrewsbury, where the man works. He left his Glock semi-automatic 10mm pistol in his vehicle, and he is unsure when it was stolen, police report. He last remembered seeing the firearm on Jan. 2.

Sunday, Jan. 13

At 1 a.m., a Shrewsbury man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, as well as driving without his headlights activated and speeding 46 in a 30 miles per hour zone. It happened in the 7500 block of Murdoch Avenue. The driver blew a .194, police report.

Monday, Jan. 14

After side swiping a school bus and shattering its mirror around 7:30 a.m. on Shrewsbury Avenue, a truck continued north without exchanging insurance information. It is described as a red truck with wood rails on the rear bed area. 

At 4:25 p.m., a bottle of Sea Breeze was reported stolen from Sally Beauty Supply. 

At 4:45 p.m., a Swansea, IL man was arrested on suspicion of stalking his ex-girlfriend. It happened in the Mackenzie Pointe shopping center, where the victim works. She told police her relationship with the suspect ended in August 2010. She said that over the previous three days, the suspect had been at the victim’s place of employment, called her, drove to stores she visited and left a note on the her vehicle while she was at work. He was issued a citation to appear in municipal court, and the victim obtained a restraining order against him.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

At 4 p.m., a car left the scene of an accident without exchanging insurance information. The accident occurred in the 7700 block of Watson Road, where a Chevy Malibu backed into a Mazda van. The Chevy driver fled the scene, police report. A witness copied the license plate, and police contacted the driver, who was issued a citation.
