Maplewood Man Steals Gas, Motorcycle Left on I-44 Taken After Accident, Police Say

The following information was supplied by the Shrewsbury Police Department.   Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Thursday, May 23

Police arrested a man from Maplewood for stealing a gas can from the back of a home in the 7600 block of Arlington Avenue at 5 p.m. The homeowner arrived home and witnessed the theft and called the police. The suspect said he was low on gas. He was issued a citation to appear in municipal court.

Saturday, May 25

At 1:30 a.m., police arrested a man from Pacific, MO after a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 44 near Shrewsbury Avenue. for driving 71 in a 60 MPH zone and for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was issued citations to appear in municipal court and the heroin will be analyzed at the St. Louis County Police Department Crime Laboratory. Once the lab confirms the results, the report will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to be reviewed for felony drug charges.

Wednesday, May 29

A red 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle was reported stolen from westbound Interstate 44 near Shrewsbury Avenue at 3:30 p.m. The owner of the motorcycle said he was involved in an accident on May 26 and left it on the side of the highway. When he returned to the highway on May 29 the motorcycle was missing.
