Officer Honored for His Heroics During Apartment Fire in Shrewsbury

Officer Mike Nicoletti received an award last week for his actions.

A Shrewsbury police officer gained recognition from other officers and city officials for his heroics during an apartment fire in November. 

While on patrol on Nov. 27, Officer Mike Nicoletti saw smoke rising on Watson Road, notes a news release. After investigating, he found that an apartment building was on fire. 

Nicoletti went door-to-door to alert residents, who weren't aware the building was on fire. Everyone was safely evacuated, the release notes.

Nicoletti received the Meritorious Service Citation Award during a presentation last Tuesday.

Lt. Lisa Vargas presented Nicoletti with the award during the Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen meeting, the release notes.
