Police: St. Louis County Man Arrested for Forging Checks

A man stole a checkbook left at a Dierbergs and wrote forged checks at gas stations and a Radio Shack, police said.

A man from south St. Louis County was arrested after reportedly forging four checks, said. Police said the man found the woman's checkbook at a Dierbergs grocery store.

Formal felony charges are pending the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office’s review of the case, according to the Shrewsbury Police Department.

The victim, a woman from the 7600 block of Watson Road, reported her checkbook missing on July 17 when her bank notified her of four forged checks: three at area gas stations and one at a Radio Shack.

Police arrested the man on August 17. He admitted to finding the checkbook on the courtesy counter at Dierbergs and to forging four checks, police said.
