Police Blotter: Car Arson and Kid Crime

These incidents were handled by the Shrewsbury Police Department and the Affton precinct of the St. Louis County Police.

Saturday, May 7

In the 8900 block of Provo Lane in Affton, a father took his son’s belongings—primarily electronics—to settle a debt. After the police were called, he returned the items, and his son decided not to prosecute.

Shrewsbury police responded to a domestic assault call in the 7500 block of Triwoods Drive. Police located the suspect after she allegedly assaulted her mother inside a condominium unit. The suspect also was allegedly responsible for lighting three parked vehicles on fire. The woman had been drinking alcohol and refused to take her prescribed medication. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for psychological evaluation and treatment. The report will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Mental Health Court.

In the 8200 block of Ketmore in Affton, a man choked his wife and threatened her with a stun gun. He fled the scene before police arrived.

Monday, May 9

Three fishing poles and five tackle boxes were stolen from a boat parked in a residential driveway in the 8500 block of Mathilda Avenue.

A man and woman were seen stealing two catalytic converters in the 8500 block of Morganford Road. They fled from police in a dark colored minivan onto northbound Interstate 55.

A maroon 1993 Ford Crown Victoria was recovered by St. Louis Metropolitan Police and towed as a suspected stolen vehicle. Metro police contacted the Affton victim, who did not even know the vehicle was stolen and was still in possession of the car keys.

Wednesday, May 11

Shrewsbury police arrested a woman from north St. Louis County on charges of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest after a traffic stop in the 7200 block of Lansdowne Ave.

A juvenile entered a friend’s home in the 11800 block of Kramper Lane in Concord while the family was out and stole BB guns, an iPod and a PlayStation 3. The suspect confessed, and the items were recovered.

A black 2005 Snowbird Utility Trailer was reported stolen in the 12000 block of Tesson Ferry Road in Affton.

In the 6700 block of Colony Acres Drive in Affton, a juvenile left his home unlocked and went out to play. While he was out, a laptop, PlayStation 3 and cash were stolen.

In Dorcin Lane in Concord, $1,100 was allegedly stolen by a homeowner’s housekeeper.

Thursday, May 12

Shrewsbury police are investigating a report of credit card fraud filed by a resident in the 5100 block of Shrewsbury Avenue. The resident received a statement indicating the card was used three times on March 24, 2011 for more than $500 at various gas stations. Police are investigating a person of interest that once resided with the victim.

A green and black 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle was reported stolen in the 9100 block of Heritage Drive in Affton.

Friday, May 13

Shrewsbury police investigated the theft of a Jeep from the 7800 block of Garden Avenue. Police eventually recovered the stolen Jeep in the 2600 block of Hickory Avenue in south St. Louis city, and they are investigating three teenagers that were seen inside the stolen vehicle. Police recovered property inside the stolen Jeep that had been stolen in a burglary.
