Police Blotter: Car Assault and Stolen Dogs

Our weekly summary of incidents handled by the Shrewsbury Police Department and the Affton precinct of the St. Louis County Police.

Friday, April 1

Near the intersection of Gravois Road and Hannover Avenue in Affton, a vehicle refused to stop for police in a traffic stop. The suspect driving got stuck behind traffic at a red light. When the county police officer tried to get the suspect out of the vehicle, the suspect drove away, dragging the officer. The suspect subsequently wrecked his car and fled on foot. The passenger in the car was apprehended. The driver is still wanted by police.

Shrewsbury police arrested a Shrewsbury resident in the 7700 Charing Square for driving while intoxicated after she struck a parked car in her apartment complex. The woman’s breath sample was measured at 0.281 percent blood alcohol level.

Shrewsbury police arrested and issued a citation to an Affton woman for shoplifting over $69 worth of items from Dierbergs grocery store at 7233 Watson Rd.

A blue 1991 Chevrolet Silverado with Missouri license plate 7DE159 was reported stolen in the 10600 block of Hackberry Drive in Sappington.

Monday, April 4

In the 9900 block of Bonton Drive in Affton, three rings were reportedly stolen in January. The rings are believed to have been taken by a caretaker or a family member.

Tuesday, April 5

At St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Concord, cash and credit cards were stolen from a purse in a hospital waiting room.

Wednesday, April 6

A Maplewood man was driving his motorcycle at 83 mph in a 40 mph zone on northbound Laclede Station Road when he crashed into a chain link fence near Murdoch Ave. and I-44. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, and he is being investigated for driving while intoxicated by Shrewsbury police.

At Ronnie’s Plaza, a firearm, wallet, vehicle accessories and electronics were stolen from a parked vehicle.

At the Olive Garden at 5529 Lindbergh Blvd., a man chased someone breaking into his car after the car’s alarm went off. The suspect’s vehicle then struck the man as he drove away. The suspect was later located and confessed.

Thursday, April 7

Shrewsbury police are looking for a vehicle that left the scene of an accident after it struck a parked 1999 Honda in the 5400 block of Chapleford Lane. The accident took place sometime overnight and it was reported to police on Thursday morning.

A suspect was arrested at Sinclair auto dealer on Lindbergh Boulevard on charges of stealing used tires from area repair shops.

A resident of the 10200 block of Marble Arch Lane in Affton reported that their daughter had stolen a credit card.

A Playstation 3 console and video games were stolen in a burglary in the 4700 block of Heidelberg Avenue in Affton.

Friday, April 8

In the 8200 block of Pear Lane in Affton, two pitbull dogs were stolen by acquaintances of the owner.

A GPS unit and power tools were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 8300 block of Valcour Avenue in Affton.
