Police Blotter: Robbery, Child Endangerment

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury and St. Louis County police departments for the week ending Feb. 17.

Friday, Feb. 11

  • Shrewsbury police obtained confessions from two suspects in connection with residential burglaries that took place on Murdoch Ave. and on Sandau Ave. Copper pipes were stolen from the vacant homes in November and December. The suspects were linked to other burglaries and thefts of copper pipes in the metro area as well. Formal charges are pending.
  • A theft over $500 was reported in the 11100 block of Towne in Affton. Electronics and clothing were stolen.
  • Two suitcases and a laptop were reported stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot of Casa Gallardo Restaurant, 11185 S. Towne Square in Affton.
  • A purse, containing cash and credit cards, was reported stolen at Oldenburg and Hildesheim avenues in Affton.
  • A person was struck by at vehicle at 4243 Bayless Ave. in Affton.

Saturday, Feb. 12

  • A rape was reported to the St. Louis County Department’s Affton-Southwest precinct.  Police had no further information on the case.
  • A tan 1999 Ford Taurus was reported stolen from the 4200 block of La Salette in Affton.
  • A robbery occurred at 7 Eleven, 703 Union Road in Affton, in which a victim was assaulted with a hot drink and food was taken from the store.  Police made arrests for second-degree robbery.

Sunday, Feb. 13

  • A firearm was reported stolen from Gravois Auto Repair, 9990 Gravois Road in Affton.
  • A purse, containing credit cards, was reported stolen at the Affton Athletic Association, 10300 Gravois Road in Affton.
  • A suspect was arrested for first-degree assault for holding a victim at gunpoint in a domestic dispute.  

Tuesday, Feb. 15

  • Air conditioning units, valued over $500, were reported stolen in the 8500 block of Mathilda Ave. in Affton.
  • Shrewsbury police arrested a couple for stealing $167.74 worth of steaks and pork tenderloin from Dierbergs, 7233 Watson Rd.
  • Shrewsbury police arrested a man for third-degree assault after he splashed a coffee on a cashier at Phil Mart at 7250 Lansdowne Ave. The man, who was upset about the price of the coffee, left the store on foot, but was later captured by police. 

Thursday, Feb. 17

  • A bicycle valued over $500 was also reported stolen in the 8500 block of Mathilda Ave. in Affton.
  • A woman was arrested by Shrewsbury police for endangering the welfare of a child. Witnesses informed police that she left her young child in the car for more than 15 minutes while she was inside Rothman Furniture, 7737 Watson Road.
