Shewsbury Police: Car Break-Ins on Suffolk and Chapelford

An umbrella, credit card and sunglasses were among items stolen. This and other crimes were reported by the Shrewsbury Police Department in its weekly report.

Thursday, May 2

A Shrewsbury resident reported a credit card, some loose change and an umbrella stolen from her 2003 Honda when it was parked in the 7700 block of Suffolk Avenue. There was no forced entry into the vehicle. Police are tracing fraudulent purchases made on the stolen credit card. The owner said that she noticed someone had rummaged through her Honda on Monday, April 29, but she did not realize the credit card had been stolen until her credit card company noticed the unusual activity and notified her.

Saturday, May 4

Police are looking for a gray colored vehicle that backed out of a parking space and struck a black Nissan Versa that was parked in the 7400 block of Woodlawn Colonial Lane.Β  The gray vehicle left the scene without exchanging insurance information on Saturday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 5

At 12:30 a.m. police issued citations to a man from south St. Louis City for speeding 56 in a 40 MPH zone in the 7400 block of Watson Road and for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday, May 7

Police are looking for a vehicle that left the scene of an accident that damaged the front and rear passenger side doors of a vehicle parked at 5200 Shrewsbury Avenue. Police could not locate any witnesses to the accident.

Wednesday, May 8

A key chain, sunglasses and the phone charger and cord for an I-Phone 4 were reported stolen when three unlocked vehicles were broken into in the 5400 block of Chapelford Lane. The thefts took place between May 8 at 9:45 p.m. and May 9 at 5:30 a.m.
